Tennis Tips: Avoiding Wrist Injuries

Tennis is a game that circles around the use of arms to swing against the ball and the body’s stamina and strength to chase the ball wherever it goes. As an athletic game, it is important for players to take note that most of tennis demands great strength from their wrists. Many tennis players, even on the professional level, have suffered several wrist injuries. Here are a few things you should know to avoid wrist injuries when playing tennis.

1. Proper Technique
Most tennis coaches advise players that the key to avoiding tendonitis and the forearm wrists would be to use proper technique. The changes in the position of the hands when swinging and hitting the ball with the racquet affects the weight and strength the wrist and the arms exert. Injuries happen when one of these forces collide with each other and one part gives out. Daily practice of proper swinging techniques contributes to good instincts and muscle memory during in-game pressure.

2. Stretches
Tennis coaches cannot stress how valuable stretching is when it comes to playing tennis. The only way to avoid sprain is to strengthen the same muscles and ensure they can become flexible in-game. Invest at least 30 minutes in stretching and loosening your wrist and forearm muscles to avoid injuries and forearm problems later in the game.

3. Strength
Wrist exercises involve ball dribbling and grip exercises. Proper weight distribution when swinging and hitting the ball is important. Too much force exerted to hit the ball is not the key to a good swing; sometimes, balance and control over the strength can help players make good on their game and avoid injuries.

Nadal won’t win Indian Wells despite Mexican triumph

Fans looking at the latest tennis betting offers should stay away from backing Rafael Nadal at the BNP Paribas Open, Indian Wells, despite the Spaniard claiming his second title of the season last weekend.

Nadal stormed to victory in the final of the Mexico Open, Acapulco, 6-0 6-2 against fellow countryman David Ferrer to add to his Brazil Open title earned last month.

His performance has left many fans, even those who normally only bet on Andy Murray, wondering if he can claim a third title of the season at the ATP’s mandatory event in Indian Wells, but you should think twice about backing him this season.

1

For although Nadal is in good form, he is not fit enough to challenge the world’s elite on hard surfaces. His three tournaments this season have all come on South American clay: the soft, slow surface aiding his recovery from chronic tendinitis in the knees. He is still on the mend after seven months out the competitive tour and has used lower-profile tournaments in South America to ease his way back into the sport.

However, come this week he will face a major challenge to even make the finals stages, for California’s hard surface is one of the fastest on the tour.

Nadal recently admitted his knees still hurt when playing but that the pain is bearable. Well, it will be interesting to see how bearable it gets when facing lighting serves and heavy baseline rallies against the best in the world.

Seeded fifth for the tournament, Nadal is likely to progress to the third or fourth round but fans should not expect anything more. He simply isn’t fit enough yet and may never be ready to return to hard-court tennis, a disappointing yet unavoidable flaw in a game that demands so much from his body.

Tennis Star Andy Murray Purchases New Luxury Hotel, Hopes It Becomes A Hit

Tennis legend Andy Murray embarks on a new journey as a hotel businessman as he purchased a luxury hotel located in his hometown of Dunblane in Scotland. The number one tennis player of Britain earlier planned to purchase the hotel after his brother Jamie Murray got married in 2010.

The Cromlix House Hotel in Scotland costs around ÂŁ1.8 million and has 50 acres of woodlands in Dunblane. Murray plans the hotel to re-open by the next spring. He also hopes to return the luxury hotel to its former glory as a leading hotel in the Dunblane community. He plans to attract new visitors in the area, create an influx of jobs for the community, and spur new local businesses in his hometown.

Andy Murray purchased the hotel saying that he also intends to give back something to the community he grew up in.

The opening date is set to the opening of the 2014 Ryder Cup, which is only a short drive away from the hotel as the event would be held in Gleneagles.

The hotel would be boasting a new Chez Roux restaurant, which Murray hopes will bring the hotel to a five-star ranking. It currently has 14 bedroom suites, a reception hall, a chapel, two drawing rooms, a conservatory, dining room, library and meeting rooms.

The former owners of the hotel were the Eden Family. The family run the hotel for 30 years and they were happy Andy Murray took interest in the venue. Aside from being a world-class tennis player, the family also expressed that they are glad that a local of the community itself would be running the business from here on.

Fraudulent Whiplash Claims Add ÂŁ118 To Insurance Bill

An estimate by British insurance company Aviva shows that £118 is added yearly to every motorist’s insurance bill because the increase of fraudulent and exaggerated whiplash claims in the country. The insurance company blames intermediaries such as claims management companies and personal injury lawyers as a factor in increasing the insurance premiums.

Aviva stated that insurance premiums have risen by 80% from October 2008 as claims management companies increased the number of whiplash and personal injury compensation claims gradually every year. The insurance company presented that if insurance companies directly handled the claims from victims, they can cut £1.5 billion from the motor insurance premiums at once, effectively staving off £60 from the average driver’s insurance.

However, the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APL) pointed out that the victims can be vulnerable to insurance company advice alone if they were to carry on these terms. They said that it can create a “conflict of interest”, leaving the victim possibly confused and approving anything that the insurance company says. APL said that third-party independent advice is important to prevent such a conflict that ensures fairness.

In total, the UK’s average comprehensive motor premium is, in full price, around £789. The government had included several new improvements to the whiplash claiming system, including a new medical board and new requirements that would segregate genuine and false claims.

What Ibuprofen Can Do Before a Tennis Match

You might have heard from both professional and amateur tennis players that taking ibuprofen before a tennis match can strengthen your body greatly and help you relax during the game, but what can ibuprofen actually do for you during the game? Whether you are playing a big tournament or just a friendly game, taking ibuprofen is not a requirement. Also take note that some are allergic to it. If you have no history of consuming ibuprofen before a match in the past, here are some things it can do for you.

1. Muscle Soreness/Tendonitis

Ibuprofen is a non-steroid drug that is used to prevent muscle and tissue inflammation caused by physical exertion leading to exhaustion and fatigue. If you are playing tennis for a long time, your muscles can get sore and you can get tired easily even if your stamina has greatly increased with your past matches. If you’re also training with sore muscles such as tendonitis from a previous match, ibuprofen can help you reduce the soreness of your body. However, be warned; you are making an injury worse by taking in ibuprofen.

2. Headaches

Over-fatigue caused by physical exertion is common especially to players who have not had enough rest in the previous day. To avoid headaches, ibuprofen can reduce mild fever and the pain of headaches. However, it is highly recommended that you don’t use ibuprofen as a substitute for natural rest and diet to avoid headaches.

3. Colds

Aside from taking vitamin C, a clear case of colds can hamper your game and if you are in the middle of the game, taking ibuprofen can help reduce your colds that can hamper your breathing and concentration. However, ensure that you are not taking any cold medications from your doctor and take ibuprofen along with it as it can cause adverse effects.

1. Writing Your PPI Template Letter
It is important that you know how to write your PPI template letter before handling any other details regarding your claim. You will be sending a correspondence to your bank, credit card company, lender or broker to get the compensation you deserve. When Do You Actually Commit Tennis Technical Fouls?

Playing a game of tennis, or any sport for that matter, is a celebration of life, sportsmanship and pride, but some players may get ahead of themselves and may cost the game’s integrity by committing un-sportsmanlike attitude. Committing technical fouls is usual in any sport. In tennis, this is how you actually commit them.

1. Racket Abuse

The tennis racket is designed for performance and play, hitting the ball effectively at any angle the ball may possibly create for the player. Racket abuse is when a player intentionally strikes another object that is other than the ball. Mis-use of the racket and throwing it is also subject to penalty.

2. Ball Abuse

The tennis ball was meant for play and indicates the method of scoring for both players, but if the player hits the ball in the direction of the audience or any stand outside of normal play, they can commit a technical foul. Tennis playing fields are designed to protect the audiences and ensure a formal playing session. Three acts of ball abuse may mean the forfeiture of a match.

3. Vulgarity/Shouting

In sports, it is normal to shout when you are in the heat of play and when feeling the passion for the game, but if the player uses it to distract the other player from scoring a point, this is a technical foul. It clearly violates the players code of conduct and sportasmanship and giving an unfair advantage to the vulgar player.

No Win No Fee Medical Negligence Claims The Only Defence of Patients – Huston

Law Society of England and Wales Chief Executive Desmond Huston says that medical negligence claims are the only way patients are ever getting justice for any blunder in a hospital operation. The increasing amount of NHS and Welsh Risk Pool money is an indicator that negligence is indeed rising in most hospitals.

The risk pool has now increased by ÂŁ18m in April 2012. Officials are blaming no win no fee cases for the increase, but law professionals claim that it is due to the increased life expectancy of the victims and the new technologies that allow the victim to gradually recover or get to a better state.

Lawyers also say that cerebral palsy coming from clinical negligence cases now have a higher compensation amount. Cerebral palsy claimants due to medical negligence may now receive a smaller lump sum, but receive an annual payout, which also leads to the increase of medical negligence claims.

Huston says that the medical board who evaluated the medical negligence claim also have a responsibility to put the victim in a better condition or at least in a place that they would have been without the disability, and the new technologies, specialist equipment and processes needed are quite costly, leading to the increase.

However, the government and medical boards cannot blame no win no fee cases for the increase just because they allow every citizen the right to practice their legal right to make a claim. Huston stresses that medical negligence claims are the only way victims can get the compensation they deserve in claiming justice for medical blunders. If you or someone you know have suffered due to medical negligence, you can pursue a claim with the MedicalNegligenceClaimsCo.org.

The Effects of Social Media In Developing Your Tennis Career

The way to build careers in today’s world means making good use of technology and new forms of communication. Tennis careers can be developed through continuous playing in tournaments and professional-grade events for exposing the tennis player, but social media, and the Internet also plays a pivotal role. Social media is a free service that allows users to share lives with their own networks, and a tennis player building his or her networks can take advantage of giving fans updates about their next games and events.

A tennis player can gain an instant career boost should they win in a tournament. Depending on the tournaments participants, the event’s importance to the industry, the outcome of the competition and the audiences watching the games would be the value of the player itself. A good performance in a game, which wins the hearts of the audience, allows the player to gain the confidence and admiration of the crowd.

The crowd will then look for the social media account of the mystery player having only his or her name. This will increase the social media network of the tennis player, who can then update his or her followers about his next games. The more tournament victories, the more the tennis player expands his or her network. Eventually, with everyone updated about his or her successes and achievements, the player can get recognized by top companies while having solid support from his or her audience, who follows his or her updates on social media.

However, the true investment a player should focus on is his or her skill, performance and game showmanship. A good game can be felt by audiences. Social media is a good way to not make them forget who you are, which will help in your career as people will continue to admire your sportsmanship as your career flourishes.

Customers Not Impressed With Bank Responses to PPI Claims

UK customers continue to criticise banks and financial institutions for not giving payment protection insurance claims enough evaluation time leading to the rejection of the majority of the claims. The Financial Ombudsman, who receives the rejected claims for re-evaluation, confirms that at least 7 out of 10 PPI claims coming from banks are valid. Currently, the FOS handles at least 1,500 claims on a daily basis.

Mis sold payment protection insurance is the biggest financial scandal the UK ever had in history, yet banks, financial institutions and building societies continue to evade the situation and deny the immensity of the fiasco. The entire United Kingdom has a compensation bill of over ÂŁ12.96 billion, which experts estimate to rise to ÂŁ16 billion the coming year with increasing numbers of claimants and deeper probing into consumer financial histories.

One customer’s particular case of bank mishandling involved having been called to make a claim for possible PPI mis selling. She submitted a formal claim but failed to provide added requirements during her submission. While she was told the complaint was pending, for at least 2 weeks she submitted her final requirements a day after only to be told that her claim had already reached the deadline. The “sudden amnesia” of banks makes it more difficult for customers to make claims.

To rebuild consumer trust, the Financial Conduct Authority would begin studying banking systems, particularly the incentives system that motivated many financial advisers and bank personnel to mis sell the insurance. Financial Services Authority managing director Martin Wheatley states that the incentives system motivated greed and compromised genuine consumer service for the sake of profit.

Financial Ombudsman Service Chief Natalie Ceeney says that banks continue to impart blame on customers, where it is clear that it is their fault that at least 3.2 billion UK consumer were mis sold PPI. Banks knew better that PPI was not something everyone needed, but still they proceeded to sell it unnecessarily.
